This painting came from a college class assignment to celebrate Dia de los Muertos but using the still life objects we had in class. Of course the skeleton was going in along with the bright plastic flowers! I think this painting carries the flavor of the holiday well!

“Last Stop on 66” – oil – 40X56

A town a little north east of Kingman, AZ named Hackberry is really a living surviving Route 66 gas station themed gift store and area where numerous vintage signs, vehicles, objects from the glory days of the mother road still exist. Like this old Ford truck, you can go take visit and see these things inhabiting the desert.

“Desert Truck” – oil – 38X58

You can see these old machines sometimes sitting, very slowly rusting away in the desert. More or less these are being found and restored and sold for unbelievable amounts of money but occasionally you’re lucky to see these still with the desert patina and layered in years of dust as if ready to return to the earth.
